Burberry Prorsum F/W 2011

Burberry's F/W collection was definitely worth the wait, it was excellent! The colours we saw in the vibrantly dyed jackets were so refreshing. To finish off the show, it began snowing! Does this mean Burberry is predicting it's going to snow again this winter? If Burberry says it, it must be true! This is a picture Burberry model, George Craig, tweeted of the show's finale:

LFW 2011: Day Four

Alright so I'm a huge fan of Christopher Kane, he ranks very highly in my little list of favorite designers. However I felt, and it hurts me to say this, kinda disappointed by his F/W collection. I did like the loose shape of the dresses, but that's about it. I really did not get the whole under water theme with the squiggly snake patterns or the use of plastic. I did enjoy the way he used crochet in a new and different way, but then it didn't really fit in with the rest of the collection.

Post about the Burberry Prorsum coming soon!

LFW 2011: Day Three

For me, the highlights of Sunday was the Mulberry and the Vivienne Westwood Red Label collections, two completely different shows but both equally amazing! I love the deep colours and metallics from Mulberry, and it was incredibly difficult to chose just four looks from Vivienne Westwood!

LFW 2011: Day Two

I was quite forward to seeing the House of Holland F/W collection, and it did not disappoint! As expected from Henry Holand, the show was as eccentric and colourful as always.

Paper Crown

Normally I would cringe at the thought of a reality TV star creating a fashion line, however in this case, there is one exception: Lauren Conrad. The look book for her A/W collection Paper Crown has been released and it has really blown me away. The colour palette and use of tailoring is very flirty and feminine. The collection has a refined and sophisticated style-awareness with a slightly vintage chic-inspired feel. I want ALL of it!
Miss Conrad actually made a new reality show following the creative process of making this collection, however this was apparently a bit too "sophisticated" for MTV, which is a real shame in my opinion.

Brother

I want to take a moment to talk about my shiny new title image. Last night my brother created the title image for my blog, and even though it was a collaboration, but he did all of the hard work! It took a while to get it perfect....in his word's "Cathy was quite particular about everything", but the end result is pretty amazing! Jon thinks that it might look good in sepia, so I might change it up every once in a while. Anyways, my brother did such a great job on this and he is extremely talented so you should go to check out all of his artwork and musings here The Crimson Arrow

LFW 2011: Day One

Yesterday I mentioned that I watched the Aminaka Wilmont A/W 11 show live   and it was one of the most consistent and cohesive collections I've seen so far. A very subtle tie-dye print of cream and dark purple ran through almost every one of the pieces, which was teamed with black leather and knee high socks. The whole collection was relaxed and very urban chic, it could easily be worn straight off the runway. My favorite piece was a slouchy aviator jacket. What I failed to notice yesterday was that all of the models were wearing very menacing yellow contact lenses, which I think is just so cool!

Paul Costelloe
Another show I really enjoyed from yesterday was the Paul Costelloe A/W 11 Collection, purely for the fact that it was so darn colourful! I never usually wear red, but I'm a sucker for tights so I fell in love with the red tights that were worn with a lot of the looks.

London Fashion Week 2011

In other news...London Fashion Week has begun today, yay! :) I love LFW, there is so much young and fresh talent in London so I'm really excited about this week. The shows I'm most looking forward to are House of Holland, Christopher Kane and Burberry Prorsum. I just watched the Aminaka Wilmont show live at londonfashionweek.co.uk and it looked great, Wilmont says that her inspiration for the Fall collection was "Totemic tribes, primitivism and subtraction", which is nice! The only downside about watching the live feed was that a really tall, bulky man kept staring into the camera menacingly every few minutes...

Thursday 17th NYFW: L.A.M.B Fall Collection

L.A.M.B
The L.A.M.B Fall collection, in my opinion, was a big messy mess. Seperately, some of the pieces were beautiful. But as a collection it had no consistency or running theme, it was all very confusing! There was a mixture of power suits and leather, and then colourful print dresses...craziness!

Jeremy Scott Fall 2011

I think these two dresses are quite cute, the one the right would be perfect if it didn't have the zip running down the centre.

No...no...NOOO!
I have a love/hate relationship Jeremy Scott's Fall 2011 collection, there were one or two dresses that I thought could work...but everything else reminded me of something that Leelo from the Fifth Element would wear!

Wednesday February 16 NYFW

My personal highlight from yesterday at NYWF was Anna Sui's fall collection. Her shows are always so fun and energetic, and this collection definitely didn't disappoint as it was full of prints, colour and the loveliest short dresses! I'm a sucker for all the chiffon, lace and frills in Marchesa's collection, and I'm predicting that a hand full of these dresses along with some of Oscar de la Renta's gowns are going to be snatched up by celebrities for this years Oscars.

Ok so due to the fact I started this blog a mere five seconds ago, I am wee bit behind on blogging about NYFW so far. So what I'm gonna do is post my favorite looks from the past few days!

Cathy Likes it Haute!

Well, after much deliberation (this account has been sitting here for the past two months) and after wracking my brains to come up with a name for this blog (Cat'sWalk? No?), I have finally ventured into the mysterious and magical world of blogging. When I'm not eating or sleeping or at college, a large majority of my days goes toward reading about, consuming and  admiring  fashion. However, I also have my own very particular tastes and opinions which is why this blog is going to be quite personal. There may only be 0.0001% of blog readers who will be remotely interested in my take on fashion and the like, but as the old cliche goes - I can only write what I know and love.

Vaguely curious? Maybe even excited? Eager to read upcoming posts? (Aaaand so the ego has landed.....)  If you actually are, well then it's nice to know that the 0.0001% exists!
